Python SDK guide

A Python Software Development Kit (SDK) is a collection of pre-written code, libraries,

and tools that help developers build applications for a specific platform or service using

Python.

What is a Python SDK?

Definition: A software package that wraps raw HTTP or API requests into simple, native

Python classes and functions.Purpose: It hides complex underlying protocols, managing

tasks like authentication, request formatting, and error parsing automatically.Installation:

Packages are normally installed via the Python package manager using pip install

<package-name>.

Python SDKs for AWS (Boto3)

Boto3 is the official Amazon Web Services (AWS) SDK for Python. It allows developers

to create, configure, and manage AWS services like S3, EC2, and DynamoDB.

Installation: pip install boto3

Example (Uploading a file to an Amazon S3 Bucket):

python

import boto3

# Initialize the S3 client

s3 = boto3.client('s3')

# Upload a file

s3.upload_file(

 Filename='local_image.jpg',

 Bucket='my-application-bucket',

 Key='uploaded_image.jpg'

)

print("File uploaded successfully!")

Python SDKs for Google Cloud (google-cloud-storage)

Google provides idiomatic Python libraries for each of its Google Cloud Platform

(GCP) services. The storage SDK allows interaction with Google Cloud Storage buckets.

Installation: pip install google-cloud-storage

Example (Creating a new storage bucket):

python

from google.cloud import storage

# Initialize the storage client

storage_client = storage.Client()

# Create a new bucket in a specific region

bucket = storage_client.create_bucket("my-new-gcp-bucket", location="uscentral1")

print(f"Bucket {bucket.name} created.")

.

Python SDKs for OpenAI (openai)

The OpenAI Python library provides convenient access to the OpenAI REST API from

any Python 3.8+ application, making it easy to integrate models like GPT-4 and DALL-E.

Installation: pip install openai

Example (Generating a text response using GPT-4):

python

from openai import OpenAI

# Initialize the client (automatically picks up OPENAI_API_KEY from

environment)

client = OpenAI()

response = client.chat.completions.create(

 model="gpt-4o",

 messages=[{"role": "user", "content": "Explain Python SDKs in one

sentence."}]

)print(response.choices[0].message.content)

Python SDKs for GitHub (PyGithub)

PyGithub is a third-party Python library used to access the GitHub REST API v3. It

allows you to manage repositories, profiles, organizations, and pull requests.

Installation: pip install PyGithub

Example (Listing all repositories for a specific user):

python

from github import Github

# Authenticate using a personal access token

g = Github("your_access_token")

# Fetch and print repository names

user = g.get_user("octocat")

for repo in user.get_repos():

 print(repo.name)

Python SDKs for Stripe (stripe)

The Stripe Python SDK provides a simple interface to manage payments, subscriptions,

customers, and payouts securely.

Installation: pip install stripe

Example (Creating a new customer for billing):

python

import stripe

# Set your secret API key

stripe.api_key = "sk_test_..."

# Create a customer profile

customer = stripe.Customer.create(

 description="Software Subscription Customer", email="customer@example.com",

)

print(f"Created customer with ID: {customer.id}")
